Customer complaint

The rider reported that the bike would rev but would not move forward normally under throttle. On a motorcycle with a wet clutch, that symptom can point to clutch slip, poor clutch engagement, incorrect adjustment, contaminated oil or worn clutch components.

Inspection findings

After opening the clutch side, the clutch pack showed heavy wear. The friction plates were worn, the pressure plate had visible grooves and scoring, and the inside of the clutch area contained debris from previous wear. The condition suggested the clutch had not been serviced before it reached this point.

Why the full assembly needed attention

Once the plates and pressure surfaces are badly worn, replacing only one small part is not a reliable repair. The clutch needs to engage and release smoothly as a complete assembly. In this case, the worn clutch pack, marked pressure plate and contamination meant the safest repair path was a full clutch assembly replacement.

Repair approach

The clutch components were removed, the clutch area was cleaned, and the worn parts were documented for the customer. The next service step is replacement of the clutch assembly along with fresh engine oil, because clutch debris can contaminate the oil in a wet-clutch motorcycle.

Takeaway for Ducati Scrambler owners

If a Ducati Scrambler revs but does not pull normally, slips under load, smells hot, or has a clutch lever feel that keeps changing, it should be inspected before the damage spreads. Early diagnosis can reduce the chance of clutch debris, grooved plates and extra labour.
