Start with tires, controls and leaks

Look at tire pressure, tread and visible damage first. Then check the bars, levers, pedals and the ground under the bike for any sign of fluid.

Make sure the lights and signals work as expected

Headlights, brake lights and turn signals are easy to forget until they fail. A quick check before leaving the driveway keeps the ride safer and avoids a surprise ticket.

Listen for changes when the engine starts and warms up

Unusual idle behavior, warning lights or a harder-than-usual start can be the first clue that the bike wants attention. That matters just as much on short rides around Richmond or Lougheed as it does on long trips.

The more consistent the checklist, the less you rely on memory

A repeatable checklist helps riders catch problems early instead of guessing. It is one of the simplest habits for keeping a motorcycle ready through the season.
